Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS) is a peer-reviewed archival journal published by Springer. It provides an international forum for researchers and professionals to share their knowledge and report new advances on all topics related to knowledge systems and advanced information systems. The journal focuses on knowledge systems and advanced information systems, including their theoretical foundations, infrastructure, enabling technologies and emerging applications. In addition to archival papers, the journal also publishes significant on-going research in the form of Short Papers (limited to 5000 words), and very short papers on "visions and directions" (no more than 3000 words, excluding bibliography).

The journal requires online submission to expedite processing, and Springer offers the journal in both electronic as well as print forms. The editors emphasize minimal delay in processing and publication, and advise authors of their paper status with a target turnaround time of 3 months from submission.

The KAIS journal has an established workflow for accepted papers to go OnlineFirst on Springer's Link server, as soon as their page proofs are corrected by the authors and the typesetter. This means that authors do not have to wait until there is a print issue available in order for their work to be published and that papers will be published online about four weeks after acceptance. All papers will be identifiable and fully citable using a Digital Object Identifier which is unique to that paper. In addition, all references will be hyperlinked so that Web users can click onto a reference and be seamlessly taken to the abstract (or full text) of that reference. Also, authors will receive electronic proofs as HTML files where all the figure, table and reference citations will be linked within the document. PDF as well as HTML files will be available to users.

Selected papers from relevant conferences are welcome. Good papers with high quality reviews can be accepted after the expansion and revision (with at least 30% new material) is verified by an Associate Editor of the Editorial Board. Conference organizers are invited to contact the Editor-in-Chief for further information.
